Lowering Calcium Hardness Levels in Pools

High levels of Calcium Hardness in your swimming pool are going to be one of the most challenging situations you might have to deal with. It’s challenging because most residential and commercial swimming pool owners aren’t aware of it, don’t know much about it, and most importantly have no clue how to manage it when the levels get high. We hope this blog post gives you some insight into what to do if you own a swimming pool and live in areas where the fill water is loaded with calcium, magnesium, and other hardness minerals. As a homeowner, have you ever thought about your faucets, showerheads, countertops, and all the scaling that occurs? These are issues that most homeowners are aware of because they see it all the time, but have you ever thought about your swimming pool? Have you ever thought about what high calcium levels in your water will do to your swimming pool and filtration equipment?

As water evaporates, the calcium and other hard minerals remain in the solution and gradually build up in concentration. As these levels get higher and higher, you will start to notice calcium scaling on the water tile line, the interior finish of the swimming pool, your filtration equipment, decorative fountains and so much more. It can be tough to look at and extremely expensive to remove. So what is the solution to this challenge that most face?

Eleven years ago, we manufactured mobile filtration systems using Reverse Osmosis membranes to lower calcium hardness, total dissolved solids, cyanuric acid and so much more without draining the swimming pool. It conserves 85% of the water that’s in the pool which is great during the drought, it never exposes the interior finish which prevents cracking and our promise is to give you better water than you’d get out of the tap. So, if calcium is high in your swimming pool, call us today to get drinking quality water back in your pool and conserve nature’s most precious resource, WATER!!

Here is a case study on a pool we have filtered in the past….

      Initial Chemistry

      Calcium Hardness – 1100 ppm

      TDS – 6254 ppm

      CYA – 80 ppm

After filtering this residential swimming pool with RO filtration we were able to lower their initial chemistry to the following:

      Calcium Hardness – 140 ppm

      TDS – 842 ppm

      CYA – 0 ppm

Reverse Osmosis filtration is the best filtration for your swimming pool and gives you and your family superior water quality to swim in. To learn more about RO and how it can benefit you, please contact us today!
