Reverse Osmosis Filtration For Swimming Pools

Now that we are in the month of May, summer is in the air, the temperatures are warming up and the swim season is quickly approaching! This is also the time of year where many residential and commercial swimming pool owners will start thinking about purifying their swimming pool if their Calcium Hardness (CH), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Cyanuric Acid (CYA) levels are high. We say purify because it is a much better option than draining which is dangerous to do! Why Drain, When You Can Recycle with The Puripool Process? The benefits of The Puripool Process are numerous, it can be completed on most residential swimming pools in less than a day and it conserves on average 85% of the existing water in the pool. Since we started, we have conserved well over 75 million gallons of water and this number will continue to rise as more and more restrictions are put on draining and refilling a pool.

The process is relatively simple as we designed a Reverse Osmosis (RO) mobile filtration system that runs on its own power and can remove the hardness minerals in less than a day for most residential pools.

      Puripool vs. Drain and Refill

Most of our customers contact us because it’s harder to take care of the water chemistry in the pool, they notice a white ring of calcium scaling on the water tile line or decorative features, or they were told to drain their swimming pool by a pool professional. Typically a drain and refill can take anywhere up to 2-3 days and in the end, you just end up filling up the pool with moderately hard water again. By using our process it can be done in a day, there is no need to expose the interior finish of the swimming pool and the water that goes back into the pool is RO quality water.

Just this past week, we filtered an 18,000-gallon swimming pool that was concerned about his high TDS levels. He told us that he originally thought about draining his swimming pool but loved the idea of RO quality water in his pool.

      Initial Chemistry:

      Calcium – 520 ppm

Total Dissolved Solids – 7798 ppm

      Cyanuric Acid – 100+

After running the swimming pool water through our Reverse Osmosis trailer we brought the swimming pool water chemistry down to the following numbers:

      Calcium – 120 ppm

Total Dissolved Solids – 1000 ppm

      Cyanuric Acid – 0 ppm

His water quality is now great, we were able to conserve about 85% of the existing water in the swimming pool, and his water is now much better than our tap water. If you want to swim in the best quality of water and prevent the need for wasting water, contact us today!
