If you have been following along on our blog chances are you’ve seen we’ve been working with some of the YMCA’s in the San Diego area. Recently, we processed the swimming pool at Dan McKinney Family YMCA in La Jolla and are now moving on to our next project at the Copley-Price Family YMCA in San Diego, California. At the Copley-Price YMCA, we were asked to process both the outdoor and indoor swimming pool. The outdoor swimming pool is 124,000-gallons and the pool we worked on first. Similar to previous work performed at the YMCA they were dealing with moderately high Calcium Hardness levels, high Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) levels, and high salt levels. Due to great results in the past they prefer The Puripool Process because they don’t need to drain their swimming pools, their members can swim during the process, the results are much better than a drain and refill, and they love to conserve water.

When talking to the Copley-Price YMCA it was mentioned to us that shutting down swimming pools was always hard to do because of their members and now that we can come every year it truly makes it easier on them and their members love the water Reverse Osmosis (RO) filtration can provide.

The following are the initial and ending chemistry values of the outdoor 124,000-gallon swimming pool at Copley-Price Family YMCA.

      Initial Chemistry:

      Calcium Hardness – 500ppm

      Total Dissolved Solids – 7124ppm

      Salt – 4662ppm

      CYA – 20ppm

After filtering this swimming pool with our mobile filtration RO trailer we were able to achieve the following ending results:

      Calcium Hardness – 110ppm

      Total Dissolved Solids – 1600ppm

      Salt – 1200ppm

      CYA – 0ppm

To our benefit as we were picking up the mobile filtration trailer while we were out at the Y, there were some folks in the pool when we were getting ready to move from the outdoor pool to the indoor pool.  One says “This water feels amazing” and the other replies “I feel like I am swimming in Evian”.  They did not know who we were or what we were doing at the time, so the comment was 100% unsolicited.  We did go up to them and let them know what we do and thanked them for the comment.  The one guy then says “when are you going to do the Mission Valley Y?  That one really needs it!”.  Just happen to be starting on December 10th sir 🙂
